Escalera went into his next fight against Badou Jack on August 30th, 2014 with a career record of 15-3-1. Outclassed, Escalera took another loss as the judges awarded Jack the UD win on a great performance.
Escalera's next defeat of his career came against J'leon Love on June 21st, 2015. Once again Escalera was in a tough fight, one that proved to be a step too far in Escalera's latest fight. Opponent Love fought well and was rewarded with a win, and crowned only the 2nd man to stop Escalera in the process. The fight ended in round 7 via TKO.
