Ramon Alvarez was next in line for Ruiz where unfortunately, he was defeated on June 23rd, 2012 taking his record to 16-2-1. Outclassed, Ruiz took another loss as the judges awarded Alvarez the UD win on a great performance.
Taking another knock in his career, Ruiz fought Walter Castillo on March 15th, 2013 and was defeated by Castillo. A valiant effort from Ruiz, but one that was out of his reach technically. The fight came to a close after the final bell in a UD loss for Ruiz. A setback for Ruiz pro journey for sure.
