Starting his career in November 2005 at the age of 22, orthodox boxer Yoshihiro Kamegai has now been pro for 11 years and has built up a career of 26-4-2. Kamegai now moves into the final stages of his career. Between November 2005 and April 2012, Kamegai had his longest winning streak of 21 fights. In his 32 fights, his longest KO streak is 7 fights long.
In November 2005 Kamegai faced Chainarong Sithsaithong in his debut bout over 6 rounds, but only 1 were needed as Kamegai became the quickest person ever to stop Sithsaithong via a 1 round TKO victory. Following his debut, Kamegai had an impressive start to his career as he went on to win his next 16 fights including once in 2005, 3 times in 2006 and 12 times between 2007 and 2010 against the likes of Hirobumi Ito, Daiki Koide and Yosukezan Onodera.
On August 4th, 2007, Kamegai was in action again beating Yasuhiro Kondo taking his win streak to 6 wins. Becoming the first person to stop Yasuhiro Kondo, Kamegai beat Kondo via KO in the 4th round of a 10 round fight. 6 wins followed for Kamegai including being the 2nd person to stop Hirobumi Ito (Round 6 TKO), 3rd person to beat Daisuke Hata and 6th person to stop Glen Masicampo.
Next was Daiki Koide on October 11th, 2009 where Kamegai took the win continuing his unbeaten streak. Koide was stopped in the 7th round via TKO crowning Kamegai as the first person to stop this opponent. Kamegai's winning streak went from 13 wins to 15 after he then defeated boxers including Yosukezan Onodera and Jr. Sollano.
Furthering his career, Kamegai fought Tomoyuki Shiotani on July 20th, 2010 and advanced his winning streak to 16 wins. Shiotani was stopped in the 4th round via TKO meaning Kamegai was the 2nd person to stop this opponent in his career. Kamegai then went on to win a further 7 fights taking his record to 22 wins, 0 losses and 1 draw.
Johan Perez was next in line for Kamegai where unfortunately, he was defeated on June 8th, 2013 taking his record to 22-1-1. On June 8th, 2013, Kamegai took on and was defeated over the distance by Johan Perez in his first career defeat. Kamegai lost via UD in a valiant effort. Kamegai then went on to win a further 6 fights taking his record to 26 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw.
Jesus Soto karass was Kamegai's next fight on April 15th, 2016. The result was an even draw via. This took his record to 26-3-2 showing a mainly successful career to date. This was a tough fight, and one where neither fighter really shone on the night. The final outcome was an inconclusive SD draw over the 10 rounds
The next defeat of Kamegai's career came against Miguel Cotto on August 26th, 2017. This took his career record to 26-4-2. Fighting over a competitive 12 round bout, Kamegai was outclassed in his most recent outing taking a UD loss over the distance at the hands of Cotto.
