Born February 3rd 1986 James Degale (aged 38) has built up a good career record of 23-1-1. Groves gave Degale his first professional loss of his 11 fight career to date. 8 wins followed where Degale went on to be the first to stop Gevorg Khatchikian, 4th person to stop Cristian Sanavia (Round 4 TKO) and 2nd person to beat Piotr Wilczewski.
Furthering his career, Degale fought Brandon Gonzales on May 31st, 2014 and continued his career to a record of 19-1-0. The win came via TKO. Degale's fight against Brandon Gonzales came in the 4th round of a 12 round fight via TKO. Degale became the first person to stop Gonzales.
Keeping his losses at 1, Degale fought on November 22nd, 2014 beating Marco antonio Periban via TKO. This took his record to 20-1-0 showing quite the successful career to date. Periban proved to be no match for Degale, and Degale became the first person to stop Periban via TKO during round 3. 2 wins followed taking Degale's winning streak to 22 wins.
Rogelio Medina was the next fight for Degale on April 30th, 2016 and also his next career win. Medina was a great challenge for Degale, losing over the full 12 round distance and crowning Degale as the 7th person to have defeated Medina.
James Degale went into his fight with Badou Jack on January 14th, 2017 with 23 wins and he added another win to his record taking it to 23 wins by beating Jack. The 12 round fight against ended in a controversial draw. A disappointing end to a close fight, but one that leads to another potential fight down the line.
