Vargas then went on to fight and beat Khabib Allakhverdiev on April 12th, 2014 maintaining his unbeaten record. An impressive win for Vargas as he proves his technical boxing talent by taking Allakhverdiev the 12 round distance and becoming the first person to beat Allakhverdiev. The fight ended in a UD victory for Vargas.
Next was Anton Novikov on August 2nd, 2014 where Vargas took the win continuing his unbeaten streak. Vargas really made a statement in this fight, defeating Novikov via UD over the distance and crowning himself as the first person to defeat Novikov in his 29 fight career to date. Another win followed for Vargas taking his win tally to 26 wins.
Taking the first knock of his career, Vargas fought Timothy Bradley on June 27th, 2015 and was defeated by Bradley. Vargas's first defeat came over the full distance against Timothy Bradley on June 27th, 2015. The fight went to the judges in a UD loss for Vargas.
Vargas went into his next career fight with a record of 26-1-0 and took this to 27 wins with a win against Sadam Ali on March 5th, 2016. Ali was stopped in the 9th round via TKO crowning Vargas as the first person to stop this opponent.
Vargas went into his next fight against Manny Pacquiao on November 5th, 2016 with a career record of 27 wins. This latest challenge for Vargas proved to be too much for him, taking a UD loss to the better technical fighter over the 12 rounds and leaving Vargas wondering which direction his career will head next.
