Ishikawa was a worthy challenger but Elorde was too much and became the first person to stop Ishikawa via RTD during round 6. 11 wins followed where Elorde went on to fight Sonny Leon, Teddy Davis and Harold Gomes amongst others, prolonging his win streak.
Elorde went into his next career fight with a record of 54-17-2 and took this to 55 wins with a win against Hachiro Ito on July 9th, 1960. Elorde's fight against Hachiro Ito came in the 5th round of a 10 round fight via TKO. Elorde became the first person to stop Ito. Elorde continued his success in the next 33 fights taking his record to 82 wins, 23 losses and 2 draws.
Eugenio Espinoza was next in line for Elorde where unfortunately, he was defeated on February 16th, 1969 taking his record to 82-24-2. Elorde boxing ability was put under heavy scrutiny in the Espinoza fight, a test too far for Elorde as he lost via UD in a judges decision over the 10 round distance.
