Scalzo's win streak of 28 rose to 73 following 45 wins against boxers such as Mike Belloise, Ginger Foran, Frankie Covelli and 42 others.
Scalzo kept his losses at 3 by beating Bobby Ivy on July 10th, 1940. Scalzo's fight against Bobby Ivy came in the 15th round of a 15 round fight via TKO. Scalzo became the first person to stop Ivy. 5 wins followed where Scalzo went on to fight Maxie Fisher, Ginger Foran and Jimmy Perrin amongst others, prolonging his win streak.
On December 27th, 1940, Scalzo went into action again and beat Richie Lemos taking the winning record to 79 wins. Lemos was a worthy challenger but Scalzo was too much and became the first person to stop Lemos via TKO during round 7.
Taking a knock to his career, Scalzo fought and was defeated by Guy Serean on February 14th, 1941 taking his record to 79-5-4. Scalzo's fight against Guy Serean was Scalzo's first stoppage defeat. This came via TKO in the 8th round of a 10 round fight.
Pushing his career further, Scalzo fought Eddie Dowl on September 21st, 1943 adding to his winning record. Scalzo's PTS win against Eddie Dowl came via judges decision of a 8 round fight. Scalzo became the 15th person to defeat Dowl and secured a great win.
Scalzo went into his next fight against Bob Montgomery on October 25th, 1943 with a career record of 90 wins. This proved to be one fight too many for Scalzo's career, Montgomery was the victor becoming only the 3rd person to stop Scalzo. TKO in the 6th. Scalzo decided to call it a day after this fight.
