Getting rid of his debut fight nerves early, Manfredo took on Johnny Dennis in July 1930 and claimed a stoppage victory (round 4, TKO). Manfredo was the first person to have ever stopped Dennis. Continuing on from his debut, Manfredo had an impressive start to his career as he went on to fight 56 fights including 10 times in 1930, 14 times in 1931 and 27 times through 1932, 1933 and 1934 against fighters such as Baby sal Sorio, Mike Payan and Sammy Mandell.
